Each product type has its own process, and the level of handwork may vary depending on the design.

Selected Materials from Beyond NYC

Silk itself has a long global history. The silk fabrics and certain components used by Silk Ling Shi may be sourced from selected suppliers outside New York City.

This may include silk fabrics, elastic, headband cores, clips, embroidery threads, trims, or other necessary construction components.

The important point is clarity: the finished product may be made in NYC, while some materials or components may come from elsewhere.

Small-Batch Silk Work in New York

Accessories, Pillowcases, and Home Pieces

Many Silk Ling Shi products are made in small batches.

This allows us to work with selected silk fabrics, observe how they behave, and decide whether they are best suited for headbands, scrunchies, pillowcases, bows, bag accents, or small home décor pieces.

We do not force every fabric into every product. The material helps guide the final design.

Individually Composed Details

Some Silk Ling Shi accessories are individually composed.

A silk faille scrunchie may be paired with silk organza, ribbon, or another silk detail in a color combination that is not repeated exactly. A headband may use a particular fabric pairing, lining, or decorative accent depending on the design.

These small variations are part of the character of the work.
